Rupert Grint will soon be stepping back into familiar shoes, as he reprises his role as Ron Weasley on Broadway in the acclaimed production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks a significant return to the character for Grint, who initially brought Ron Weasley to life in the beloved Harry Potter films over a decade ago. His engagement with the Broadway show is set for a 17-week period starting in February 2027.
Reflecting on this upcoming role, Grint shared that Ron Weasley has been an integral part of his life since his early acting days at age 11. He expressed excitement at reconnecting with the character, especially as it will be portrayed during a stage in life where both he and Ron are depicted as fathers, offering a blend of nostalgia and newness.
Grint’s return follows in the footsteps of Tom Felton, who has also revisited his iconic film role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway rendition. Felton is slated to continue his performance until January, adding to the continuity of the Harry Potter universe on stage.
Since its debut in London in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has become a worldwide phenomenon with multiple international productions and over 14 million tickets sold. The New York version alone has garnered more than $532 million in revenue, underscoring its enduring popularity.
Beyond his work in the Harry Potter series, Grint made his initial Broadway appearance in 2014 with the comedy It’s Only a Play. His acting repertoire has since expanded to include roles in productions such as Knock at the Cabin, Charlie Countryman, and Nightborn. Meanwhile, the Harry Potter universe continues to grow, with a new television series in development for HBO, aimed at introducing the magical world to a new generation of fans.
