Trump Orders USS Gerald R Ford to Join Abraham Lincoln for Iran Military Operation

by admin477351

President Trump has ordered the USS Gerald R Ford to join the USS Abraham Lincoln for an Iran military operation, substantially enhancing American capabilities in the Middle East. The carrier’s approximately three-week transit from Caribbean waters demonstrates Trump’s commitment to maintaining overwhelming military pressure on Tehran as nuclear and missile negotiations proceed through indirect channels.

The decision followed Trump’s Washington meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, during which leaders discussed requirements for acceptable Iran agreements. Netanyahu has insisted that effective deals must comprehensively address ballistic missile capabilities and proxy support alongside nuclear enrichment, creating demanding terms that Tehran has thus far resisted.

Iranian negotiators have indicated potential flexibility on nuclear enrichment in exchange for sanctions relief that could revitalize the economy. However, Iranian leadership has firmly rejected demands regarding ballistic missile programs and regional relationships, arguing these represent sovereign national security interests that cannot be subjected to external control.

The USS Gerald R Ford has been operating continuously since June 2025, first in Mediterranean waters before Caribbean assignment where the carrier played a central role in the January Maduro seizure. The Middle East redeployment extends what has already been an exceptionally lengthy deployment.

Trump intensified rhetoric toward Iran as the week progressed, with Thursday bringing warnings that negotiation failure would prove “very traumatic” while expressing confidence in reaching agreement within roughly one month. Friday’s Fort Bragg remarks suggested that regime change in Iran might ultimately be preferable to continued negotiations after nearly half a century of diplomatic efforts.
